Child crushed under truck in Sunamganj

A child was killed as a truck rams her on the Sylhet-Sunamganj regional highway at Shantiganj upazila in Sunamganj district on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Mariyam Begum, 7, daughter of Emadul Haque, a resident of Astama village under Joykalash union of the upazila.

Citing locals, police said the accident occurred when a speeding goods-laden truck ran over the girl near Abdul Majid College of the area while she was walking beside the highway, leaving her dead on the spot.

Shantiganj Police Station officer-in-charge Kazi Muktadir Hossain confirmed the death matter, adding that police have seized the truck and the legal actions will be taken in this regard.
