Two Northern University students were reportedly shot dead by police in capital’s Uttara during the complete shutdown called by the agitating students demanding quota reform.
In connection with the ongoing quota movement and the attack of Chhatra League on students and killings in different parts of the country, ‘Complete Shutdown’ is going on across the country on the call of the agitating students.
The names of the dead students could not be known.
More than a hundred students are undergoing treatment at hospital after being injured. Doctors said that the condition of some of them is critical.
Bangladesh Medical physician Dr. Ruknuzzaman confirmed the matter.
Police and RAB clashed with protesting students in Uttara of the capital. The clash started on Thursday (July 18) around 11 am. Traffic has been stopped on the northern part of the Dhaka-Mymensingh road in the incident.
Police and RAB threw sound grenades and tear shells during the clash. The agitators are staying on the road from House Building to Rajlakshi Mor.
Earlier, students of various private universities, colleges and schools gathered in front of Zamzam Tower in Uttara. Later, when they wanted to take the procession to the main road, the police and RAB tried to disperse them. Later, the conflict started.
