The authorities of 15 readymade garment factories in Ashulia have been forced to close the factories amid the workers’ protest.
As per the directive of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), the factories in Ashulia opened on Sunday morning. And the workers joined their respective workplaces at 8AM as usual. But after 9:30AM, some of them stopped production and started strike. Then the authorities bound to close the factories for today.
The protesting workers alleged that the owners are not talking about their demands. But other factory owners accepted the demands of the workers. For this, the workers of those factories joined the work.
Sarwar Alam, superintendent of Ashulia industrial police, said additional number of police members have been deployed in front of the factories. Besides, army personnel are patrolling in the area.
