A Dhaka court on Wednesday sent former inspector general of police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque to jail in a murder case after ending his seven-day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ali Haider passed the order in the morning after investigation officer New Market police Station SI Bayezid Bostami pleaded to keep him in jail until the case investigation is over.
Shahidul Haque was arrested from Uttara in the capital on September 3 in a case filed over the death of 45-year-old trader Abdul Wadud at New Market area in the capital on July 19 during the Quota Reform Movement.
He was remanded by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Akteruzzamanin on September 4 in the murder case.
Shahidul Haque was appointed as IGP on December 30, 2014. He went on retirement on January 31 in 2018.
