July Shaheed Smriti Foundation gets Tk 100cr grant from CA’s welfare fund

A grant of Tk 100 crore was given to the ‘July Shaheed Smriti Foundation’ from the Chief Adviser  (CA)’s Relief and Welfare Fund, said  Posts and Telecommunications, and Information Technology Adviser Md Nahid Islam on Tuesday.

‘July Shaheed Smriti Foundation’ was formed for the rehabilitation and medical assistance of the victims of the July Student Uprising.

Nahid, also Information and Broadcasting Adviser, said this while addressing a name-plaque unveiling ceremony of Shaheed Golam Nafiz Bhaban at Banani Bidyaniketan School and College in the capital.

Nahid Islam said that the seriously injured people of the July uprising will be sent abroad for better treatment.

Besides, those who have lost their eyesight will be treated by bringing specialist doctors from abroad so that they can regain their eyesight as soon as possible, he added.

The adviser said: “We got new Bangladesh through the sacrifice of martyrs like Nafiz.”

Those martyrs who sacrificed their lives in July are the architects of July Uprising, he said.

The adviser said students from schools, colleges, universities and madrasahs along with the general public participated in the movement.

He said this upsurge is not because of any particular party or group rather it belongs to all the people of the country.

Noting that martyrs do not belong to any group, he said all should take forward the country by recalling their memories.

Shaheed Golam Nafiz’s father Md Golam Rahman, Acting Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka Mohammad Mominur Rahman, Snigdho, brother of Shaheed Mugdho and teachers and students of the respective school and colleges were also present on the occasion.
