Police detained media coordinator of banned organisation Hizb ut-Tahrir Imtiaz Selim from Bashundhara residential area of the capital on Friday.
Md Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said a team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) detained Selim from the area on Friday morning.
He said Selim was accused in a case filed under Anti-Terrorism Act with Shabagh Police station.
The arrestee was also wanted in two criminals cases filed with Pallabi and Khilgaon Police stations, he said adding apart from the cases, two cases are now under trial against Selim.
On October 22, 2009, Hizb ut-Tahrir was banned during the Awami League’s regime. After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5, it held public processions.
