Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially announced the schedule for the 11th season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), set to commence on December 30, 2024.
This thrilling cricket tournament will feature seven competitive teams: Dhaka Capitals, Chittagong Kings, Durbar Rajshahi, Fortune Barishal, Khulna Tigers, Rangpur Riders, and Sylhet Strikers. The high-stakes season will unfold over six weeks, culminating in the grand finale on February 7, 2025.
BCB President Faruq Ahmed expressed high expectations for the upcoming season, emphasizing both on-field competition and off-field advancements. “We aim to set a new standard for the league in terms of quality and fan engagement,” he said.
For the first time, the BCB will implement a fully digital ticketing system, designed to streamline access and enhance the overall experience for fans. In addition, stadium amenities are being upgraded, including the installation of free water stations and dedicated cleaning crews to maintain a pristine environment for spectators. Enhanced broadcasting efforts will also elevate viewership, ensuring fans enjoy high-definition coverage with commentary from renowned cricket voices.
This season will mark a consistent use of the Decision Review System (DRS) from the opening match, supported by experienced international umpires to maintain fair play. Matches will be held across three major venues: Dhaka, Sylhet, and Chattogram, with a strategic rotation to maximize audience reach.
The tournament will kick off with eight group stage matches at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The action will then move to Sylhet from January 6 to January 13, followed by a week of matches in Chattogram from January 16 to January 23. The final rounds will return to Dhaka, starting January 26.
The closing week promises high drama, beginning with the eliminator match on February 3, followed by the first qualifier that same evening. After a rest day, the second qualifier will take place on February 5, leading up to the highly anticipated final on February 7, where the 11th BPL champion will be crowned.
With new features and fierce competition, the 11th edition of the BPL is set to captivate cricket fans across Bangladesh and beyond.
