Tarique Rahman extends Eid greetings to nation

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

In a message shared on his verified Facebook account, he stated that after nearly one and a half decades, the people of Bangladesh would celebrate Eid in a free, fearless, and democratic environment following the departure of Sheikh Hasina’s regime. He noted that this year’s Eid celebrations come with a new sense of excitement and enthusiasm.

Highlighting the spiritual essence of Eid-ul-Fitr, Tarique Rahman said that the occasion, following a month of fasting and self-discipline, brings messages of unity, solidarity, compassion, and boundless joy for the Muslim Ummah. It also serves to beautify and purify individual lives, families, society, and the state.

He extended his sincere greetings and congratulations to Muslims worldwide, wishing them “Eid Mubarak.” However, he also acknowledged that amidst the joy of Eid, many mothers and families remain in sorrow. He pointed out that the aftermath of enforced disappearances, murders, kidnappings, and oppression during the previous Awami League regime has cast a shadow over numerous households. Additionally, the families of those who lost their lives in the struggle against fascism find little reason to celebrate Eid.

Tarique Rahman emphasized that the true spirit of Eid conveys a universal message of humanity, fostering a sense of close brotherhood by overcoming injustice, cruelty, and social inequality. He urged everyone to extend compassion and support to the underprivileged, neglected, and deprived members of society.

Concluding his message, he wished happiness, peace, progress, and prosperity for the people of Bangladesh and the global Muslim community.
