India will not export rice for two and a half months

The Indian government decided to stop export of rice. After September 15, there will be no export of rice from India. The ban will continue till November 30. A directive from India’s Central Government came on Tuesday in Petrapole customs of India.

Due to the flooding of Boro Aman due to the flood, the Bangladesh government decides to import rice widely from India and neighboring countries. Import duty is reduced from 28 percent to just 2 percent, so that the import of rice in the private sector increases.

According to the notification issued from the Ministry of Commerce of India, it has been decided to stop export of rice considering the price of rice does not increase and food crisis is not created in India. But basmati rice is out of export ban.

India’s Petrapole C & F Staff Welfare Association’s general secretary Kartik Chakraborty said that the rate at which India is exporting rice to Bangladesh can lead to food crisis.

For this, the Central Ministry of Commerce sent letters to stop export of rice, in Petrapole. The decision will be effective from September 15.

Benapole Check Post Customs Cargo Branch Revenue Officer Golam Mowla told Samakal that import of rice from India is being imported daily.

About two hundred rice trucks were standing in the port waiting for the acquittal. From 1 August to 11 September, 59.99 tons of rice from India has been imported in Bangladesh by this port.

 

Benapole rice importer Haji Much Karim and Sons owner Abdus Samad said that the government of India will stop exporting rice very soon. No exporters have yet told them from India.
