WHO applauds Bangladesh for healthcare

Director General Dr Margaret Chan of World Health Organization (WHO) has praised

Bangladesh for outstanding performance on health care sector.

Dr Margaret made the remarks in her speech at the Ministerial Meeting on ‘United

Health Coverage’ in Singapore on Tuesday which inaugurated by Prime Minister of the

Government of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong.

The theme of the meeting is ‘Universal Health Coverage-the post-2015 Challenges’, said

a press release issued by External Publicity Wing of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Minister for Health and Family Welfare of Bangladesh attended the meeting and shared

experience and success in health care of Bangladesh.

Dr Margaret said Bangladesh has made tremendous strides in different health indicators

like survival of under-5, immunization, and tuberculosis control.

She also praised combines government and NGO efforts that emphasizing the role

of women in delivering action on its health indicators such as family planning,

immunization, oral re hydration, therapy, vitamin A supplements.

Health Ministers and High officials from more than 15 countries, including ministers

from Brunei, Finland, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam and High officials

from Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Saudi Arabia and South Korea.
