Phensedyl bottles recovered from Sylhet DC’s car

61RAB personnel recovered 375 bottles of banned cough syrup, Phensedyl, after searching the official car of Sylhet’s Deputy Commissioner Shahidul Islam.

“The vehicle was stopped around 8:30pm Tuesday in Sylhet town’s Shibganj area based on a tip-off that the government vehicle was being used to move drugs,” RAB-9 acting commander Major Humayun Kabir told Sylhet Mirror.

Kabir said the driver, Rumon Mia confessed  he was moving the contraband used as recreational drugs for the last two years.

“Rumon was going to Upashahar area from the circuit house. We found 375 bottles of Phensedyl in the car. He told us that the DC’s wife mostly used the vehicle.”

A narcotics case has been filed and Rumon has been handed over to Shah Paran Police.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Nurul Haque said Rumon has been temporarily suspended and process has started to take departmental action against him.
