Vinita’s painting show at Bengal in full swing

42River Stories’, a solo exhibition of paintings by artist Vinita Karim being held at Bengal Art Lounge at Gulshan in the city, is going on in full swing. A large number of art aficionados from across the city flocked in droves to the exhibition on Sunday, the second day of the event. High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran and eminent artist Rafiqun Nabi jointly inaugurated the exhibition on Saturday. The exhibition remains open from 12.00pm to 8.00pm every day until June 6 in 2015. Vinita Karim was born in Rangoon of Burma on september 4,1962. She obtained her Master of Fine Arts from the University of Philippines. The painter took her Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Administration at University of Stockholm. Vinita attained her diploma in fine arts at Gerlesborg Art Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. Vinita Karim carries with her the forts of Malta, the sand dunes of the Sahara, the city of Dhaka, a boat, the Mediterranean Sea, and enough paint to color them all. She turns cities into artwork. If only one could reverse the process and enter her dreamy abstract cityscapes. Born in Myanmar, educated in Sweden and the Philippines, but originally from India – Vinita’s nomadic lifestyle has led her all over the world. She has taken full advantage of her constantly changing surroundings and applied it to her passion in art. No matter where Vinita goes, through her paintings, sculptures, or installations, she carries with her the rest of the world. Vinita Karim is currently residing between Dhaka and Delhi.
