Central London Youth Development has started a project on ‘hopes and fears’ of Bangladeshi parents wen they raised their children in 60’s and 70’s. The name of the project is ‘Faced in Westminster’ which will speak about mainly on parents living in Central London.
The project will focus largely on stories of parents on that time describing benefits, advantages and disadvantages while they raised their children.
A book will be published which will include oral stories spoke by the parents and the recordings will be kept in Westminster Library Archive.
A training session and consultation meeting was held involving local youths on 16th May to find out best possible ways to conclude these recordings.
Cllr. Abdul Aziz Toki will be overall responsible for this project. Organisations who will be working in partnership in this project will include Shwadhinota Trust, Westminster Library and British Library. Heritage Lottery Fund will provide financial assistance for this project.
Parents who lived in Westminster in 60s and 70s can co-operate with this project by taking part in this project by calling Central London Youth Development Trust on 020 7723 9904 or 07903 865 156 or by email: info@clyd.co.uk.
