Independent candidate Rabina Khan has said that if she is elected, she will continue the provisions of Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA), free school meal, free home care service and council tax freeze and prioritise to keep the top position in housing league table.
Supported by the former Mayor of Tower Hamlets LutfurRahman, Rabina Khan said this in her campaign meetings held in different areas of Tower Hamlets.
Rabina Khan was Cabinet Member for Housing and Development under Rahman. She said she was planning “to build 5,000 new homes and create 20,000 jobs.”
Along with the former Mayor Lutfur Rahman, several elected councillors and a huge number of members of the public took part in these campaign meetings held in Whitechapel, Shadwell and Stepney.
Rabina Khan said that, Tower Hamlets is a borough of people with low income. Budget cuts and reduced funding will cast a negative impact on life-styles of general people of the borough.
Rabina Khan said that the former cabinet under Lutfur Rahman always looked into these problems and tried to resolve issues so that general people do not suffer.
Mentioning her politics is for the welfare of each class and race, Rabina Khan said that she is urging everyone to vote for her on 11th June mayor election so that she can continue to work for the development of the borough.
Under the former Mayor’s tenure, Tower Hamlets received over 50 million pounds for governments New House Bonus Scheme.
Rabina Khan hoped that people will look into her past work record and will elect her as the Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets for a brighter future of the borough.
