Greater Sylhet Development and Welfare Council UK Wellingborough branch observed the 44th Independence Day of Bangladesh and organised a discussion meeting and cultural performance in a local hall.
A huge number of adults and children took part in the event. The speakers focused on the struggle for independence of Bangladeshi people and presented the history of Bangladesh to the children. The speakers also demanded Sylhet-London flight immediately.
Organisation’s Chairperson Alhaj Aforj Ali presided over the meeting and General Secretary Shamim Chowdhury and Journalist Towfik Ali Minar jointly conducted it.
Assistant High Commissioner in Bangladesh High Commission in Birmingham Mohammed Julfiqar Nyne gave speech at the event as Chief Guest.

After finishing the discussion meeting, a cultural performance took place featuring Shotabdi Roy, Salma Islam, Shamim Ahmed.
A drama was performed by a popular drama group featuring the struggle of liberation war.
