Many disabled people in Bangladesh are housebound because they cannot use their legs for whatever reason. These people are often a burden on their families who are already suffering due to extreme poverty. Iqra International has been donating wheelchairs over the past couple of years. The charity organisation has witnessed how the lives of these unfortunate people can change dramatically due to their newfound mobility. There are 4.8 million orphans (UNICEF, 2008) and approximately 15 million disabled people in Bangladesh. Many of these orphans and disabled people require your generous help to alleviate many of their problems and make them valued members of society. Iqra International’s disabled children hospital in Sylhet is an initiative that will help support many of these vulnerable people. The hospital is established on the bank of river Surma in Technical Road, where 20 patients are being given treatment every day. The first phase of the construction work of the hospital has been completed. British Bangladeshis are contributing hugely to make this project a successful one.

Iqra International organised a fund raising event on Wednesday the 24th of June at Royal Regency in east London. The event was conducted by tv presenter Rahim Jung. Participants pledged to donate sixty thousand pounds. The proprietor of Al Qibla Travels Anwar Ali and the proprietor of Legends Properties Faruk Ahmed donated ten thousand pounds each.
