Bangladesh new SAFF U-16 champion

51Bangladesh clinched SAFF U-16 football championship 2015 by defeating India 4-2 in tie-breaker at Sylhet District Stadium.
The final match went into tie-breaker after both teams ended full-time at 1-1.
Fahim Murshed gave Bangladesh the lead on the 46th minute when he forcefully drove Shawon’s cross to beat the Indian goalkeeper.
India leveled the scores after the hour mark when Amay Morajkar’s left-footed shot found the back of the net.
In the crucial tie-breaker, Fahim, Jahangir, Atik and Saad scored for the hosts.
Saurabh and Rakip converted their penalty shots for India but Abhijit struck the post and Saqlaine was denied by the Bangladesh goalkeeper.
Bangladesh Under-16 football team has reached the final by defeating Afghanistan 1-0 in the semi-final.
This is the first final berth for Bangladesh in this regional age-group competition.
Bangladesh was eliminated from the semifinal stages of the earlier two editions – lost 0-2 against eventual champions Pakistan in 2011 and 1-5 against Nepal in the 2013 edition.
Earlier, the Bangladesh boys have turned the tables with some eye-catching football, beating Sri Lanka 4-0 before overcoming arch-rivals India 2-1 in a nail-biting match to enter the semis as group champions.
