Tulip Siddiq, niece of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh has been made state minister for culture, media and sports in Labour Party shadow cabinet.
Newly elected Labour leader Jeremy Corbin included Bangladesh-origin British MP Tulip as a junior member in the cabinet.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s special assistant Mahbubul Haque Shakil confirmed the matter to media.
In a Twitter message Tulip said, ‘Hope I become Shadow Minister for Made Up News. (“left wing rookie” – nicest thing The Sun has ever said about me)’. (Sic)
Earlier in May election, Tulip Siddiq, granddaughter of Bangladesh Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and also daughter of Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina’s younger sister Sheikh Rehana, was elected an MP in British Parliament with Labour Party ticket.
