Cricketer Shahadat Hossain on Tuesday was freed on bail in a child torturing case.
A Dhaka court granted the bail for the suspended national team pacer, days after his wife Jesmin Jahan alias Nitya was freed on bail.
Deputy attorney general Sheikh AKM Moniruzzaman told Prothom Alo that a bench, comprising Justice M Enyetur Rahim and Justice Md Amir Hossain, granted the bail for the suspended cricketer till 31 March 2016.
Earlier on 6 October, a court remanded Shahadat in jail on shortly after he surrendered to a court over allegations of beating his 11-year-old maid.
On 1 December, Jesmin Jahan got bail for one month in the case.
On 4 October, police arrested Nitya for allegedly beating Mahfuza Akhter Happy, 11, their domestic help.
The following day, a journalist named Mojammel Hossain filed the case against Shahadat and his wife Nitya with Mirpur model police station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act-2000.
