UK bars cargo on direct flights from Dhaka

43United Kingdom is barring all the direct cargo services form Dkaha. In a web post dated Mar 8, UKGOV website said that their recent assessments of the Shahjajal International Airport found some international security requirements were not being met.
“Airlines carrying cargo between Bangladesh and the UK on indirect routes are being asked to ensure it is re-screened before its final leg into the UK,” reads the post.
It said that the move was part of ‘a set of interim measures’.
The post also said that the UK was working with Bangladesh to support it in improving standards for ‘all aspects of aviation security’.
Under the headline ‘New cargo handling measures on flights from Dhaka International Airport’ the UKGOV website read, ‘recent security assessments of Dhaka International Airport found that some international security requirements were not being met. As part of a set of interim measures, cargo will not be allowed on direct flights from Dhaka to the UK until further notice. Airlines carrying cargo between Bangladesh and the UK on indirect routes are being asked to ensure it is re-screened before its final leg into the UK. Airlines or importers can contact the Department for Transport for further information. The UK government is working with the government of Bangladesh to support them in improving standards for all aspects of aviation security.’
