US Under Secretary Uzra Zeya meets PM Sheikh Hasina 

Visiting US Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Uzra Zeya on Thursday met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganabhaban in the capital.

Two other members of the delegation US Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu and Deputy Assistant Administrator of the Bureau for Asia, USAID, Anjali Kaur met the Premier.

Various issues including upcoming national elections, human rights, Rohingya situation were discussed at the meeting, it is learnt.

On Wednesday, a US delegation visited Balukhali Rohingya Camp at Ukhiya in Cox’s Bazar.

The US delegation included US Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Uzra Zeya, US Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu and Deputy Assistant Administrator of the Bureau for Asia, USAID, Anjali Kaur.

Senior officials of US Embassy in Dhaka accompanied the delegation during the visit.

Uzra Zeya arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday (July 11) evening on a four-day visit to Bangladesh. Following the announcement of new US visa policy on Bangladesh, it is the first Bangladesh visit by a senior American official.
