Female worker killed being hit by truck in Habiganj

A woman was killed in a road accident on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Shaistaganj upazila of Habiganj district on Thursday night.

The accident took place at around 8pm in front of the gate of Alipur RFL Company in the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Halema Akhter, 24, daughter of Mustafa Miah, hailed from Gobarkhala village in Gazipur union of Chunarughat upazila.

Shaistaganj Highway Police Station officer-in-charge Mainul Islam said the accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound freight truck overturned in front of the gate of Alipur RFL Company and fell on Halema Akhter around 8pm, leaving her dead on the spot.

Legal procedures are under process in this regard, the OC added.
