Traditional Karam festival of ethnic groups held in Sreemangal

Sreemangal Correspondent : The traditional Karam festival of small ethnic groups living in tea gardens was celebrated with colorful arrangements in Moulvibazar’s Sreemangal upazila.

Manipuri Lalitakala Academy at Kamalganj organized the programme on Sunday afternoon at Kakiachhara Tea Garden of Sreemangal upazila in collaboration with Moulvibazar District Tea Community Tribal Front under the patronage Ministry of Culture.

Moulvibazar-4 seat MP Dr Abdus Shahid was present as the chief guest at the festival presided over by Moulvibazar deputy commissioner Urmy Binte Salam.

Ministry of Culture Deputy Secretary Kazi Nurul Islam, Police Super Manjur Rahman, Sreemangal UNO Ali Rajib Mahmud Mithun, Kamalganj UNO Zainal Abedin were present as special guests on the occasion.

At that time, assistant superintendent of police Anisur Rahman, Sreemangal upazila woman vice chairman Mitali Dutta, Kamalganj upazila woman vice chairman Bilkis Begum, Sreemangal assistant commissioner (Land) Sandeep Talukdar, Sreemangal OC Jahangir Hossain Sardar, Kamalganj OC Sanjay Chakraborty, project implementation officer Md Asaduzzaman, Kalighat UP chairman Pranesh Goala, Rajghat UP chairman Bijay Bunerji were also present, among others.
