36-hr blockade: ‘Bahon Paribahan’ bus set on fire in Gulistan

A bus of ‘Bahon Paribahan’ was set on fire in the capital’s Gulistan area on Tuesday when the BNP and like-minded parties are observing their 11 phase of 36-hour blockade across the country.

Fire Service and Civil Defence duty officer Lima Khanom said receiving information at about 9:58am, two fire-fighting units went to the scene and doused the fire.

Today is the first day of the 36-hour blockade which will end at 6 pm on Wednesday (December 13).

Vehicles of the newspapers or media, ambulances and vehicles transporting oxygen cylinders and medicines will remain out of the purview of the blockade.

The opposition parties are observing the movement to protest the schedule for the next national election announced by the Election Commission (EC).
