Man kills brother-in-law in Sunamganj

A man was killed in a clash with his brother-in-law over a trivial matter at Shantiganj upazila in Sunamganj district on Tuesday morning.

The incident took place around 10am at Nayanagar village under Patharia union of the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Alauddin, 50, a resident of the same village.

Locals said, Kamal Mia, husband of the victim’s sister, used to live in his in-law’s house for a long time and run a shop in the local market. On Tuesday morning, a customer went to the accused shop after passing through the victim’s shop. Following this, they locked into a fight. At one stage of the fight, Kamal hit Alauddin with a steel made chair, leaving him critically injured.

Locals rescued the injured and took to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared Alauddin dead.

Shantiganj Police Station OC Qazi Muktadir Hossain confirmed the death matter, adding that police kept the body at the hospital morgue for autopsy and efforts are on to arrest the accused.
