Indictment hearing of Khaleda’s 11 cases deferred to Apr 22

A court in Dhaka on Wednesday again set April 22 the hearing on charge framing of 11 cases, including a sedition case, filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia as she failed to appear in the court.

Keraniganj Central Jail’s acting Judge Faisal Atiq Bin Kader of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court set the new date following a time petition filed by the BNP chief’s lawyer.

Her lawyer submitted a time plea before the court this morning informing that the proceedings of some cases of Khaleda Zia stayed at the High Court.

Among the 11 cases, 10 were filed in the first three months of 2015 over arson attacks, while the other one was filed with a Dhaka court on charge of making seditious comments on freedom fighters and martyrs of the Liberation War.

Khaleda, who is out of jail following an executive order from the government, is taking treatment at her Gulshan residence.
