Eid in the Square returned to the capital on Saturday, 20 April. Following the end of Ramadan, the free annual celebration took place in Trafalgar Square and was hosted by Capital XTRA DJ Yasser Ranjha and comedian Ola Labib.
Londoners and visitors were treated to the best of Islamic-inspired art, history and culture, with musical performances on the main stage alongside a feast of food stalls worldwide.
The celebration featured an afternoon of live performances from musicians including Love’s Pilgrim, Raghad Haddad and Raghad Haddad and members of the Orchestra of Syrian Musicians, Muslim Belal and all the way from Pakistan, Chahat Mahmood Ali Qawwal and Group.
There were a range of family friendly activities on the day including creative arts workshops, storytelling and VR experiences, all celebrating different traditions from across the Islamic world. The Inspiring Muslim Awards also returned another year, honouring unsung heroes from London’s Muslim community.
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, organised and developed the free family event in partnership with the Eid Community Advisory Group and London-based arts, culture and grassroots Muslim organisations.
