Deputy Speaker falls sick suddenly, flown to Dhaka by helicopter

Deputy Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad and Pabna-1 constituency’s member of parliament (MP) heroic freedom fighter Advocate Shamsul Huq Tuku has been flown to Dhaka by a helicopter for urgent treatment after he suddenly fell sick.

He was flown to Dhaka from Abdul Khaleque Stadium at Bera in Pabna at about 3:30pm on Friday (June 28) by a helicopter of Bangladesh Navy.

Earlier at about 11:00am, Shamsul Huq Tuku attended the inauguration ceremony of a tree plantation programme at Bipin Bihari Pilot High School ground in Bera as the chief guest.

Following the inauguration, he was taking preparation to plant saplings at ‘Nouka Chattar,’ adjacent to his own home. At that time, he suddenly fell sick and leaned to the right. Instantly, he was rushed to Bera Upazila Health Complex. After he felt somewhat well, he was taken to his own residence. Later, he was flown to Dhaka for better treatment by a helicopter of Bangladesh Navy.

Confirming the matter, Bera Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Morshedul Islam said Advocate Shamsul Huq Tuku fell sick at the end of a programme early Friday afternoon. Now, he feels comparatively better but the condition of his heart is not so good. Because of it, he was flown to the capital for treatment at Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka.
