The submission of the investigation report in the abduction and murder case of Jhenidah-4 lawmaker Anwarul Azim Anar has been deferred once again.
A court in Dhaka now set May 27 as the new date for submission.
The report was scheduled to be submitted on Monday (April 21), but the investigating officer failed to present it.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MA Azharul Islam then granted additional time.
MP Anar has been allegedly abducted and murdered in West Bengal, India. His daughter Mumtarin Ferdous Dorin filed a case with Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station on May 22 last year.
According to the case statement, Anar left his official residence on Manik Mia Avenue at night on May 9, 2024, reportedly en route to his hometown in Jhenidah. Dorin last spoke to her father via video call on May 11 at 4:45 AM, during which he appeared disoriented.
Subsequent attempts to reach him by phone were unsuccessful as the device was found switched off.
