A case has been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and 220 others in connection with the shooting of students and civilians during the July Mass Rising at Mohammadpur in Dhaka.
The case was lodged on Wednesday by Sohel Rana, a victim of the incident, with Mohammadpur Police Station.
On Friday, Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah ordered the police to submit their investigation report by 20 July.
According to court sources, the list of accused also includes Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Law Minister Anisul Haque, former Adviser Salman F. Rahman, former Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Rashed Khan Menon, Dr. Dipu Moni, singer and former MP Momtaz Begum, actress Shomi Kaiser, and former Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch chief Harun-ur-Rashid.
The FIR states that on 5 August, at around 2:30 PM, Sohel Rana took part in a rally near Mayur Villa at the Three Roads intersection under Mohammadpur Police jurisdiction.
During the protest, police and Awami League activists reportedly launched an attack under government orders, leading to Sohel Rana being shot and seriously injured. He was admitted to hospital for an extended period, which caused a delay in filing the case, according to the complaint.
The investigation is underway as the legal process moves forward.
