Starmer urges Trump to show restraint against Iran

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has called on US President Donald Trump to exercise restraint regarding any potential military action against Iran, warning that there is a “significant risk of escalation” in the region.

Speaking on Thursday, Starmer emphasized the need for all parties to pursue a diplomatic resolution, stating, “There have been several rounds of discussions with the United States previously. In my view, this remains the most effective path to resolving the crisis.”

His remarks come as UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy is set to visit Washington for talks aimed at de-escalating tensions. Lammy is scheduled to meet with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday evening local time to discuss the unfolding situation in the Middle East.

The UK government has expressed deep concern over the growing instability and is advocating for renewed diplomatic efforts to prevent further conflict.
