‘July-August perpetrators would not be sparred’

No one responsible for the July-August genocide will be spared, commented Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal Tajul Islam on Monday.

”This clear message for those who thought they could get away after committing genocide in Bangladesh.”

The Chief Prosecutor made this remark at a press briefing held on the tribunal premises.

The trial process would continue under all circumstances, he added.

Tajul Islam presented the opening speech to the tribunal today in the crimes against humanity case over killing of student Anas and five others in the capital’s Chankharpul during the July uprising.

He said to media that the relatives and families of the young people who liberated Bangladesh for the second time with their blood are alive. Through their testimonies, the state will ensure that justice is done to the families of more than 1,500 people who lost their lives.
