Gold reaches historic peak of Tk2.86 lakh per bhori

With gold hitting a new record in the local market, prices of the precious metal have reached a fresh high of Tk286,001 per bhori, breaking all previous records.

Jewellers increased the price of each bhori gold by Tk16,213 due to a hike in the prices of pure gold in the international market.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) on Thursday (29 January).

The revised prices came into effect nationwide from 10:15am the same day.

Under the new price structure, the price of 22-carat gold has risen to Tk286,001 per bhori, 21-carat gold at Tk272,996 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk233,980 per bhori, and traditional gold at Tk193,039 per bhori.

Silver prices have also reached record levels. BAJUS fixed the price of 22-carat silver at Tk8,573 per bhori, while 21-carat silver will sell at Tk8,165 and 18-carat silver at Tk6,998 per bhori. Traditional silver has been priced at Tk5,249 per bhori.

Earlier on 28 January, gold reached an all-time high of Tk269,788 per bhori in the country.
