
A Bangladeshi expatriate has died while receiving treatment in Saudi Arabia after being injured in a missile attack.
Deceased Abdullah Al Mamun, 35, was the son of Shahid Saudagar from Bharbhara village under Rasulpur Union of Gafargaon upazila in Mymensingh.
His father confirmed his death on Wednesday (March 18).
Mamun was seriously injured on March 8 when a missile struck a workers’ camp of Al Towaik Baladiya Company in Al Kharij city, moments before iftar. He was admitted to Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital in Al Kharij, where he succombed to his injuries at night on March 17 while on life support.
His body is currently kept in the hospital morgue.
News of Abdullah Al Mamun’s death has cast a shadow of grief over his family and local community. His relatives have demanded that his body be brought back to Bangladesh as soon as possible.
Family members said Mamun, who leaves behind a young son, had been hospitalised in critical condition since the blast. His cousin Shawon Morol confirmed his death.
