In a prestigious Civic Reception hosted by the Chester & North Wales Bangladeshi Youth Association (CANBYA), the community of the North West came together to celebrate a lifetime of dedication and service. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Lifetime Outstanding Achievement Award to Mohammed Mizanur Rahman Mizan, a respected Tameside community leader and former international hockeys player.
The award recognizes Mr. Mizan’s exceptional and enduring contribution to public life, spanning several decades of work across humanitarian sectors, media, and community development.
A Night of Distinction
The event also served as a platform to honor seven other distinguished individuals from the North West for their significant impact across various sectors. Among the fellow honourees were:

Based in Hyde, Mr. Mizan is widely recognized as a successful businessman and the owner of Adnan’s, but his true legacy lies in his philanthropic heart. In 2006, he founded the Just Help Foundation, an organization that has transformed thousands of lives. Through the foundation’s dedicated eye hospital in Sylhet, Bangladesh, more than 12,000 patients have received treatment, and over 6,900 free cataract surgeries have been performed over the last 12 years.

Mr. Mizan’s influence is equally felt closer to home in the UK. As the Director and Chairman of the British Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (North West region), he has been a driving force in promoting business collaboration and economic growth. He is also a staunch supporter of local charities and educational initiatives throughout Tameside.
In the world of media, Mr. Mizan has built a distinguished career spanning over 25 years. Currently the Bureau Chief for Channel S Television, his reporting has kept the community informed and connected. His contributions to journalism have previously earned him recognition from the London Bangla Press Club.
