Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad Bir Bikram has urged the treasury bench and the opposition to cooperate with each other to place a pro-people budget to bring comfort in public life.
He made the remarks while replying to a query from reporters at Bhola Circuit House on Tuesday.
Hafiz Uddin said that he would ensure that the opposition gets adequate time in parliament to fulfil its responsibilities.
The speaker added that he had observed a spirit of cooperation between the ruling and opposition parties during previous parliamentary sessions and hoped that cooperation would continue.
“In my view, the National Parliament has so far been able to meet the expectations of the people. In the coming days, they will be able to play an even better role.”
He expressed hope that all members of parliament would work to fulfil the aspirations and expectations that the people have regarding this parliament.
On the occasion of Eid, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed arrived in his home district of Bhola on a four-day visit on Tuesday afternoon.
He made a stopover at the Bhola Circuit House before heading to his constituency, Lalmohan.
Bhola Deputy Commissioner Shamim Rahman, District Council Administrator Golam Nabi Alamgir, Superintendent of Police Md Shahidullah Kawsar, among others, were present at the event.
