Eid celebrated today in 10 Faridpur villages following Saudi Arabia

While the rest of the country will celebrate the holy Eid-ul-Azha on Thursday, people in 10 villages of Boalmari Upazila are offering Eid prayers today, Wednesday (27 May), in line with Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries.

Continuing a long-standing tradition, residents of several villages under Shekhar and Rupapat unions in Boalmari Upazila of Faridpur have been observing Ramadan and celebrating both Eids one day earlier for many years.

On the occasion, four Eid congregations will be held in phases between 8:00 am and 10:30 am on Wednesday at Sahasrail Daira Sharif, Rakhaltali, and Maitkumra mosques.

According to local sources, some residents of at least 10 villages, including Katagar, Sahasrail, Dari Sahasrail, Maitkumra, Rakhaltali, and Ganganandapur, follow the traditions of Mirzakhil Sharif and observe fasting and Eid in line with Saudi Arabia.

As in previous years, preparations for Eid celebrations in these areas have already been completed.
