Prof Yunus leaves Dhaka for Paris

Former chief adviser of the interim government Prof Muhammad Yunus has left Dhaka for Paris, the capital of France.

He departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on a Turkish Airlines flight around 7:15am on Wednesday.

On his way to Paris, Yunus will make a stopover in Istanbul, Türkiye.

Sources at HSIA said the former chief adviser was accorded VIP protocol at the airport.

He arrived at the airport on schedule with his entourage and boarded the Turkish Airlines flight after completing the necessary formalities.

Relevant sources said he is believed to be travelling to France as part of personal and international engagements.

Prof Muhammad Yunus assumed office as chief adviser to the interim government formed following the student-led July Uprising in 2024. He formally took office on 8 August that year.

Later, the 13th parliamentary election was held on 12 February 2026.

Following the formation of a new government through the polls, Yunus formally handed over responsibility to the elected government on 17 February 2026.
