Minister Dipen Dewan submits resignation citing health reasons

Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan has submitted his resignation letter to the Prime Minister, citing health complications as the reason for stepping down from office.

Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman confirmed the information.

In his resignation letter dated 1 June 2026, addressed to the Prime Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the minister stated that he has been suffering from various physical health complications since assuming office.
He noted that his ongoing illness has created difficulties in properly performing his official responsibilities and routine ministerial duties.

Considering the need to ensure efficiency and continuity in government development and administrative activities, he expressed that it would be appropriate for him to be relieved from his current position.

Accordingly, he requested the acceptance of his resignation from the post of Minister for the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs.

Dipen Dewan currently serves as an MP from the Rangamati Hill District in addition to his ministerial role.
