BNP’s Koyes Ludhi appointed Sylhet Development Authority chairman

Acting president of Sylhet city BNP Rezaul Hasan Koyes Ludhi has been appointed chairman of the Sylhet Development Authority.

He has been given the responsibility on a contractual basis through a gazette notification issued yesterday (11 June), by order of the president.

Rezaul Hasan Koyes Ludhi, a former panel mayor and councillor of Sylhet City Corporation, confirmed the matter himself.

According to the notification, under Section 8(1) of the Sylhet Development Authority Act 2023, Rezaul Hasan Ludhi has been appointed chairman, grade-2, of the Sylhet Development Authority for one year from the date of joining, on condition that he relinquishes any work-related ties with any other profession, business or government, semi-government, private institution or organisation.

The notification said other terms of the appointment will be determined by contract.

The order was issued in public interest, it added.

The Sylhet Development Authority Act 2023 was passed in the Jatiya Sangsad on 26 October 2023. However, the authority has so far remained almost inactive.
