Visiting US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon on Saturday morning.

The meeting began at 9:30am, according to Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony.

Rony said details of the discussions, including the key issues raised during the meeting, would be shared later.

Sergio Gor arrived in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon on a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening engagement between Bangladesh and the United States.

As part of his visit, the US envoy held talks with Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman on Thursday evening. On Friday, he travelled to Cox’s Bazar, where he visited the Rohingya camps to assess the humanitarian situation.

The visit comes amid continued cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States on regional security, humanitarian assistance and broader bilateral relations.
