Four more children have died with measles like symptoms in the country over the last 24 hours and the death tally unfortunately continues to climb.
During the same period, 1,137 children were infected with measles or showed measles like symptoms of the disease, as published by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday, August 2.
The DGHS stated that four children died with measles symptoms between 8:00AM Saturday and 8:00AM Sunday. However, no deaths were reported from confirmed measles cases during this timeframe.
With these latest figures, the death toll from measles symptoms across the country has risen to 748 since March 15.
During the same period, another 96 children died from confirmed cases of measles, bringing the total combined death toll to 844.
According to DGHS data, 115 children tested positive for measles in the last 24 hours, while 1,022 fell ill with measles-like symptoms.
A total of 946 children were newly admitted to hospitals during this period, while 886 were discharged following treatment.
DGHS records show that the number of suspected measles patients in the country reached 1,30,083 between March 15 and Sunday.
Among them, 16,295 cases have been officially confirmed.
Furthermore, a total of 1,12,620 patients were admitted to hospitals during this period, of whom 1,08,283 have recovered and returned home.
