Govt to pay retirement benefits of private school teachers at once: Milon

Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has said retired private-school teachers across Bangladesh are set to receive their long-awaited retirement and welfare benefits simultaneously on Saturday.

The minister disclosed the information in a social media post on Friday.

He said the government has decided to allocate Tk2,035.86 crore in a one-time payment, following instructions from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, to clear the outstanding retirement and welfare benefits of the teachers.

“This is part of the groundbreaking decision we have taken to resolve the mountain of arrears that had accumulated over the past four years,” the education minister said.

He added that the government would simultaneously transfer the Tk2,035.86 crore to the respective bank accounts of retired teachers in all 64 districts.
