Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Ajit Singh paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam on Monday.
The meeting was held at the office of the Defence Adviser at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged greetings and recalled the longstanding friendly bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Canada.
They discussed potential areas of Canadian cooperation in modernising and enhancing the capabilities of the Bangladesh Armed Forces.
Both sides expressed a positive outlook on strengthening cooperation in military technology transfer, strategic defence collaboration, joint training, disaster management and peacekeeping operations.
They also discussed ways to further advance the existing defence and diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Both sides expressed hope that mutual initiatives would further strengthen and consolidate the friendly relations and defence cooperation between Bangladesh and Canada in the coming days.
