Bangladesh has climbed to the sixth spot in the ICC Test rankings despite losing miserably against the Australia.

This is the highest position Bangladesh has ever achieved in ICC Test rankings.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) updated the team rankings on Sunday following the conclusion of the Mackay Test against Australia.

Bangladesh moved up three places with a current rating of 78 points. The leap pushes Sri Lanka down to seventh with 76 points, Pakistan to eighth with 75 points, and the West Indies to ninth with 74 points.

The top five teams in the ICC Test rankings are Australia, South Africa, India, New Zealand, and England.

The victory in the Darwin Test boosted Bangladesh’s ranking. However, Bangladesh’s percentage points in the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle dropped slightly to 55.56 per cent across six matches, including three wins, two losses, and one draw.

Bangladesh remains in fourth position on the World Test Championship points table.

Bangladesh previously reached their highest ranking of seventh place in May after securing a 2-0 Test series win over Pakistan at home.
