Elections to be held on schedule: LGRD Minister

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Minister Dr Abdul Moin Khan has said the BNP government will hold local government elections on schedule, strictly following all constitutional procedures and rules.

He made the remarks during a meeting with the officials of his ministry at the Secretariat on Sunday.

Dr Moin Khan described the LGRD Ministry as a unique ministry, saying it plays a crucial role in providing direct services to the people.

“If the Local Government Ministry functions properly, the entire country will be governed properly.”

The minister added, the government would serve everyone, but priority must be given to the needs of the poor.

”Over the past 17 years, the rights of poor people were deprived while efforts were made to serve the affluent.”

Local government elections will be held in five phases as per the people’s desire, Dr Abdul Moin said.
