Thakurgaon-1 by-election on Oct 29

The Election Commission (EC) has announced the schedule for the by-election to the Thakurgaon-1 parliamentary constituency, which fell vacant after President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir resigned from the seat.

Voting in the constituency will be held on October 29, the EC said.

EC Secretary Akhter Ahmed confirmed this to media on Thursday (September 10).

The nominations will be scrutinised on September 29, while the deadline for withdrawing candidacy is October 7.

Election symbols will be allocated on October 8 ahead of polling on October 29.
