Rail communication between Sylhet and Dhaka and Chattogram resumed after nearly three hours on Friday following the detachment of a carriage from the Paharika Express in Moulvibazar.

The incident occurred at around 1:15 PM when the Sylhet-to-Chattogram Paharika Express reached the Magurchhara area of Lawachhara in Kamalganj upazila.

The coupling hook connecting the train’s engine and a carriage broke, leaving the carriage detached and disrupting rail services between Sylhet and the two cities.

Shiplu Sutradhar, assistant station master of Sreemangal Railway Station, said railway workers managed to reconnect the carriages at around 5:20 PM after nearly three hours of efforts.

The train later left for Sreemangal, where further work will be carried out, he said.
