Man detained in Moulvibazar over alleged derogatory remarks about PM on Tiktok

Moulvibazar Correspondent : Police detained a man in Moulvibazar last night for allegedly making abusive and derogatory remarks about the prime minister in a video posted on TikTok.

Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of Moulvibazar Model Police Station, confirmed the detention today.

He said police learned about a video circulating on social media in which Mamun allegedly used “abusive and derogatory” language against the prime minister.

“After learning about the video, we conducted a raid at his residence and detained him,” the OC said, adding that filing of a case over the incident was underway.

The OC said police would take legal action over such activities. “No leniency will be shown regarding such activities,” he said.

Contacted, Shamim Ahmed, a Giasnagar union BNP leader, alleged that Mamun made the remarks with malicious intent. He also called for an investigation into whether anyone else was involved in the incident.
