Osmaninagar Correspondent : Two passengers were killed and five others injured in a collision involving an ambulance, a microbus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Osmaninagar upazila of Sylhet on Friday.
The accident occurred in the Chanpur area of Tajpur Union under the upazila.
According to eyewitnesses, the ambulance, heading towards Sylhet, collided with a Hiace microbus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw travelling towards Sherpur. One person died at the scene, while another succumbed to his injuries after being taken to hospital.
The deceased were identified as Suhel Ahmed, 47, a passenger in the microbus and a resident of Mahamaya village in Chandpur Sadar upazila, and Khairul Islam, 47, from Matlab South upazila of Chandpur. Khairul was critically injured and later declared dead by doctors at the hospital.
Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sherpur Highway Police Station, confirmed the deaths and said five others were injured.
“The bodies have been sent to the morgue of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Police also seized the three vehicles involved in the accident,” he added.
